Response to "Management of Grief"

This is my response to Management of Grief from the point of Dr. Ranganathan during his visit to the Coast of Ireland to have a memorial of his wife.

"I overheard some people talking about swimming. I mentioned that you could survive this crash and swim to a little island off the coast and be safe. That's if If you were a good swimmer on that plane, you would be able to make it easily to safety. not give up hope and it's my job as a parent to make sure hope is still alive and be as positive as you can. It would be foolish to give up what has not been confirmedShaila mentioned her eldest son Vinod. I asked a few questions about him and learned he just turned 14 and was going to have a big birthday party thrown for him. I then progressed to the water with my shoes in my hand with my socks tucked in. I took out the squashed roses from my jacket pocket and plucked the petals off. I then threw them in the water. It was a sad moment. I started mourning a little and talked about my wife and how she loved pink roses. I always had to bring home a bouquet for her every friday to show my love.

Response to "An Ounce of Cure"

When first reading this story, I got a bit confused, but then i started focusing on what the title meant, and how it related to the story. This women has this unstoppable addiction to this one man and is madly in love with him but she tries to stop but all of her actions seem to remind her of the man. So when relating this story to the title, it took a bit of time. But seeing her serious addiction and a cure to find it, it all started to make sense. Her problem is the man and she wants to stop loving him and as i continued to read the story, she tried to cure it but realized it wasn't possible. So it could be that it's relating to what she didn't do and that is make an effort to cure it before it actually becomes a major problem in which it did. Later she starts to drink while on babysitting duty and starts to take shots. When she get's under the influence, this gives her a bigger problem to worry about in which it overcomes her addiction of the man she loves. So in the end, she overcomes her addiction by drinking shots (which are taken in ounces) and suddenly relates to the title "an ounce of cure" where one shot cures her problem. Alice Munro used good wording to describe this story as it was interesting how the plot unfolded. It was interesting to find out how the story went along as in the beginning, it was very hard to understand so she made this story interesting in the beginning to grasp the readers attention and then bring in a more severe plot to the story before the climax to make it exciting. It was a well written story and made me think very hard.

Response to "Happy Endings"

Margaret Atwood's short story titled "Happy Endings" was a very interesting yet saddening poem. The different variations throughout each scenerio make this poem a desire to read. Each scenerio created unlimited amounts creativeness to continue the short story while adding some of your own words. She does a great job of just getting straight to the point in each story and does it effectively to keep the reader interested into what will happen next. It was easy to read and follow along and each story had it's own twist to it as oppose to traditional falling in love and live happily ever after. The most intruiging one is when John and Mary die because readers can imagine what could go on after they die, which could bring up a heavy discussion or even how they died. John and Mary do well as characters as they portray their emotions towards the plot of each story which is why the several different endings of each story are different. Overall, it was a great poem and fun to read. The only thing I wish was that their was a bit more detail included to grasp more of how the scene plays out but in a more effecient way.
